Asheville’s resident paranormal expert, Joshua Warren, has written many a book, hosted many a conference, hunted many a ghost. But if he’s getting tired of riding the fringe, it doesn’t show. In fact, he seems more eager than ever to illuminate the strange, and his latest endeavor—the Dark 30 traveling show—does so with help from some of the most prominent names in the business.
“The concept was simple,” Warren says in a press release announcing the event. “Take the biggest, most critical questions of our lifetimes and bluntly address them face-to-face with the best experts.”
Tackling such an ambitious agenda will take a while: 10 hours, in fact. Appearing at Asheville Pizza and Brewing Company next Saturday (Sept. 29) from 1 to 11 p.m., Dark 30 promises to be a high point in local explorations of the strange brew that is paranormal studies. Perhaps Warren, a veteran paranormalist, could do it by himself, but instead, he’s bringing in two of what the release calls “the most notable experts on the weird”—Nick Redfern and Jim Marrs—to help plumb the depths of the darkness.
Redfern is a British author who writes about everything from UFOs to “government files on the rich and famous,” the release notes. Marrs, who lives in Texas, is a noted conspiracy-theory author who has made his mark chronicling everything from JFK’s assassination to ancient secret societies to modern-day “psychic warfare.”
