I live on Grandview Drive, and I have a couple of clarifications for the article “Fanning the Flames” [Aug. 15]. First, our neighborhood is not Grandview—the new cookie cutter development. This is Grandview Drive, an established neighborhood where people have been living and raising families for decades. We did not come here from Florida to cash in on the land grab!
Second, the spokesman for the new development, Jonathan Scott, claims the unusual construction method avoids cutting on the slope, [yet] hundreds of trees were cut for this development. Furthermore, the trees served as a buffer from the train yard below the slope where the new homes are being built. The trains constantly make a crashing noise, even on weekends and nights, that sounds like thunder and sometimes rattles the windows in our house. Seeing how the new homes are suspended in air on metal beams, I can only imagine how violent the crashing noise in those new homes must be. Some advice to the new homeowners: Don’t unpack the family china!
