Regarding the percentage of Smashing Pumpkins tickets sold to Ashevilleans: 20 percent is a generous number from club manager Liz Whalen and The Orange Peel —especially when myself and Larry, Darryl and Darryl didn’t get tickets.
We’ll see how many people next week ask what grits are.

Everyone knows what grits are. Flo, the waitress from TV’s Alice, would always tell Mel to kiss hers in increasingly saucy ways.
Why even set a percentage in the first place? Did the Peel think they were doing us a favor? By setting a cap, they upset people who were shut out. Next time they should let all ticket buyers have equal shots by not imposing a number. At least that way if someone couldn’t get tickets, they know it was because lots of people were going them and not because of a rule.
You misunderstood. The Orange Peel didn’t set a cap, they stated that 20% of all tickets sold were to people from Asheville.
