Heard good things about the Asheville Design Center’s I-26 Connector plan? Well, allow the N.C .Department of Transportation to retort. The DOT will appear before Asheville City Council Tuesday to respond to the ADC’s alternative plan.
The DOT reviewed the locally produced plan at a June 11 meeting attended by city, county and state-government representatives, but said it would take time to craft a response.
An early look at the presentation reveals that the DOT has concerns about the plan, which is an alternative to its own five options. The DOT’s presentation can be downloaded here.
Meanwhile, the ADC will continue its weekly open house information sessions from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, at its office at 8 College St.
Also: Leicester is looking to leave the nest and be a town unto itself. Citizens in that area of Buncombe County have petitioned the state for incorporation, and Council will consider a resolution of support at its meeting.
The complete agenda for Council’s June 26 meeting can be found here.
