Consumer Credit Counseling Service of WNC (CCCS) is a nonprofit United Way agency dedicated to helping people manage their money and credit better. Since 1973, CCCS has been providing professional and confidential money management counseling, education programs and debt repayment plans. The Debt Repayment Program helps people who are suffering from debt stress get back on track by working with creditors to reduce monthly payments, reduce interest rates and eliminate late fees. CCCS offers education on money management, using credit wisely and homeownership. 2006 Client of the Year Terri DuBois was able to buy a home after working with CCCS to create a budget, save money and address credit issues. “Laurie Knowles has been my financial counselor for over three years. [At] my first visit, I wanted to declare bankruptcy!” Terri shares. “Laurie understands that behavior does not change immediately but is a process, and [she] proceeded to educate me on how to become more conscious about all money matters, especially spending. … Without the services provided by CCCS I would not have been able to purchase my home and feel the independence that has come from home ownership.” For more information or to schedule an appointment: 255-5166, 1-800-737-5485 or www.cccsofwnc.org
