As a native Clevelander and a lover of classical music, I commend your feature on the recent program of the Cleveland Orchestra. You did an excellent job of researching the images of Cleveland and the world-famous orchestra, and you presented a very readable article, full of wit, insight and illuminating interviews.
The concert exceeded all expectations—the hall was packed, the sound dynamic, the programming creative. The audience must have been delighted, as they clapped and cheered through five standing ovations.
The only criticism I heard was that the single-ticket prices were pretty high. Any nonsubscriber should note that season tickets to Asheville Bravo present a wise investment. You get reduced ticket prices and know that you are supporting an organization that has contributed to the cultural growth of Asheville and Buncombe County for 75 years.
I know that the many people in Asheville who crave a performing arts center worthy of the Cleveland Orchestra and our own exciting Asheville Symphony Orchestra appreciate the task in front of them. A number of people commented on the drone of the Civic Center’s heating system that added an unfortunate 105th instrument to the concert.
