Candidates looking for work with Buncombe County will have one less question to answer on their application. During its Tuesday, April 19 meeting, the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution, effective immediately, to remove a question about past criminal offenses on the county’s preliminary employment applications.
The founders of Alchemy aim to make classical Chinese medicine part of daily life; The Community Table plans an Empty Bowl fundraiser to sustain its operations; Chef Rhabb Seymour of Udderly Not Cheese creates vegan cheese dishes for a wine pairing event; and Mojo Kitchen & Lounge plans an intricate beer dinner.
The event, now in its eighth year, is held at Blue Ridge Community College in Flat Rock on Friday, April 22, and Saturday, April 23. Readers, writers and fans of local literature will be able to attend workshops and presentations by authors, and wander an exhibit hall where dozens of local writers will sign books and discuss their work with readers one-on-one.
