Hoteliers drop lawsuit against city property sale, for now
Yesterday, representatives for several local hotel chains dropped a lawsuit blocking the city’s sale of property near the Basilica of St. Lawrence to the McKibbon Hotel Group. According to interim City Attorney Martha Walker-McGlohon, the plaintiffs gave no reason for dropping the suit, and retained the right to sue over the matter again in the future.
Waiting for the cavalry: Kenilworth incident raises questions about police response times
On the evening of Aug. 8, Andrew Fletcher and his roommate, David Goodman, were in their Kenilworth apartment. Fletcher, a musician who often plays with the Firecracker Jazz Band, had a show later that evening; in the meantime, he was in his home office, working on some future bookings. Then a neighbor told them that their BB gun had just been stolen off their porch.
