Canton tech shop @Home Computers held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the beginning of its off-grid operation on solar power. The Main Street store is energized solely through its rooftop array of sixteen solar panels, according to owner Rob Worth.

The local electronic band lost $2500 worth of musical equipment in a burglary on June 14. It was recovered and returned to the band yesterday. Yesterday, 20 Occupy Asheville activists faced charges related to civil disobedience actions last year. After a judge refused to dismiss the charges on constitutional grounds, 17 plead guilty.
