New voting districts dramatically impact WNC
At a Feb. 22 forum hosted by the Asheville-Buncombe County League of Women Voters, Dr. George Peery sought to contextualize new Western North Carolina political districts that have “spawned shocked incredulity, smug sentiments of justifiable payback, outrage, support, and baffled indifference,” he said.

Five bank robberies have occurred in Asheville and the surrounding area since Feb. 8, WLOS TV reports. The most recent occurred Friday morning, Feb. 24, at the Candler branch of RBC Centura. The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a white male in his 40s, pictured here.
