Records released by the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office this afternoon show that Deputy Brian Scarborough, who came under fire for his handling of the controversial flag desecration arrests of a West Asheville couple, has not been demoted, suspended, transferred or fired.
The Faces of Asheville project, which sought to get portraits of 100 of the city’s most unique people, faces an uncertain future after local photographer and artist Jenny Bowen had her Montford home burglarized Sunday, her studio ransacked and her equipment stolen.
The North Carolina Victim Assistance Network will host its 21st annual training conference in Asheville from Aug. 28 to 30. Attendees will include local, state and federal criminal-justice and law-enforcement professionals, victim -elated service providers, surviving victims of rape, elder abuse, domestic violence, and child sexual abuse, and family members of homicide and DWI crash victims.
